You ain't nuthin' but a Hounddog baby...

...CRYIN' all the time!!

Well, to be fair, he doesn't cry all the time and...he's far from a hound dog!

...introducing the newest member of the Boschmann Clan...Rupert!

{As may be obvious to a select few, this introduction is a slight attempt at avoiding THE post...the marathon post, updating all two of you on our most recent move and letting you have a sneak-peak of our new crib!}

So, aside from all things obvious, we have been trying our hand at this newest gig: parenting a puppy (again!)!

And the girls...well, they're getting a chance to "mother" a puppy for the first time and seem to be fairing rather well!!

Here's Avery acquainting Rupert with one of her toys that she graciously agreed to let him have...

I think this is him saying "Rrranks!!" You'll have to excuse the poor quality of this picture as I had to quickly resume my role as "Mummy," and tend to my baby, shocked and dismayed that she would be attacked by something she just gave a toy to!

And then...there's my "Mother" child! I am constantly having to remind Karys that I am the Mummy in the family! But in this particular instance, taking Rupert for his first walk, I thought I'd let her take the reigns...literally!

He's a little reluctant...

She takes on her responsibility with pride!

Waving a friendly "hello" to our neighbors! Yesss...we have neighbors!!

He's just so darn cute!

We're having a great time here in our new place! And yes, I DO plan on updating with some further details and, more importantly, pictures...soon! Until then...this one will have to do...

in anticipation of new things...

...a new pretty backdrop!

More posts
(possibly too many,
as I try to mentally calculate
all the recent goings-on)
to come!
Just have to collect
my thoughts
and organize
my life....
a TAD
after the move.

...stay tuned....
if you're even still out there!

Oh Happy Birthday....

...to me!! (slightly vain, but no one else planned anything! A girl's gotta do...)

So - here it is! A day belated, but for good reason! Last night I was too busy visiting with some incredibly special friends, whom I invited over for a scrumptious BBQ!! mmmm....unfortunately, everyone there, including me, was all too busy eating yummy food and enjoying great company to take any pictures :( Oh well...great times were had by all, especially the 12 kids under 11!

However, the day started on an entirely different note! Picture this, if you will: alarm set for 5:30am, to ensure a prompt 6am start. Husband tries with all his might to have some visible evidence that his cell phone alarm is "enabled"! Without much avail, and with him certainly full of doubt in his technological device, we settle in for a "good night's sleep." Avery starts to cry/call for me at...get this...5:10...AM!!! So...up we get and out we go! Set out for a marathon drive back down to the coast to get things and ourselves ready for the arrival of our company! On the road...at 5:45am...on my birthday...YAY!?!?

It is what it is!

So, here I am...what I am....at 5:45am...now, at 29!!

My lovely company...

And trusty companion!

Birthday View...the lovely Cariboo Hwy!

Glad it's my birthday...and I'm still not 30!!

Sad to be another year older...and I still get zits!! (note: click on photo to enlarge, although you hardly need to to get a load of the doozy between my eyes!!)

My attempt at appearing "contemplative"...

And "mature"...or "adult-ish"...or however you're supposed to look at 29!

Did you buy it?? Huh?? Do you think I can sell this "mature" (said with that snooty accent where they say "ma-toor") facade to my up-coming class of....PARENTS?

But...seriously...I'm still just me!!

And he...loves me!! I'm so lucky!!

But, deep down, he's just as silly! And loves to try and fool me by driving like...THIS!! (note: he does keep his left eye on the road! One eye IS better than none!!)

NERD!

The girls try their hand at one-upping Mummy's "silly" face...

I still think I WON!! And...after all, it was MY birthday!

There ya have it! My day...in a nutshell, sans pictures of the BBQ bash!

Now, back to work! FULL FORCE! This is NOT for the weak-at-heart! I gotta be AT work by 8am!! What's a girl to do?? Look forward to the reality that there's only 7.more.sleeps....until we move!! This full-time gig will only help this time go by more swiftly...right??

I'll let you know!! Until then...here's to new beginnings!

bunk beds and bed head

So, here's a few pictures of the girls and our newest treasure...

paparazzi-pic...attempting to stay undetected...

attempt: failed

a cluttered, disheveled peak at the beds...please don't mind the state of this room-in-transition

enjoying the feeling of being a "big girl"

And, in other news, here's the latest haul of ripest crop...from our soon-to-be property

And lastly, in a couple minutes we will be north-bound...so I am really shirking my responsibilities by posting this so last minute! But a girl's gotta do...

So here's a last minute look at my attempt to avoid bed-head and not have to pack all the hair paraphernalia that comes along with having girls with long hair.

She's a TAD excited to go see Oma and Opa!!

Ahhh - Jim's home...gotta RUN!!
Have a great wkend!!!

the joy of success...

sweet...sweet...success!

And quite simple to boot: simply pour some red wine vinegar in a bowl, add a couple drops of dish soap and...VOILA! The best darn fruit fly trap around! The proof is in the...well, vinegar!

Thanks Lisa for this sanity-saving recipe...those little suckers are liable to throw one over the house-keeping edge!

Thankful Thursday

Well, I've had many thoughts of posting, but actually finding the time to sit down a type has been the challenge!

So, we'll keep this short and thankful, as it is Thursday! And like Jim always says "Today isn't Thursday...tomorrow is Friday!!"

So - I'm thankful that I was just able to go out for dinner with my guy for an early "Happy Birthday" to me!

We're getting to go away for this last long weekend of "summer" - and it happens to be, as it has been for the past 28 years, my birthday weekend. Double yay...yay!

We (Lisa and I) started training more seriously for the up-coming Rubber Ducky! And by "more seriously" I mean we've added fartleks back into the weekly regime - why oh why do these things have to be considered helpful in the traning process?? Couldn't "training" consist more of coffee-sipping and friendly chats?? Guess not! So, until it does, we'll continue to pound that pavement and let that funny-named-horrible-excuse-for-a-good-time-but-great-way-to-ensure-you-have-a-pulse keep kicking my butt, until I can kick IT!!

Fall is nearly here. I may take some time in a future post to reflect on my ideas about Fall and why I embrace it whole-heartedly, but right now I'll simply relish in that reality...it's almost here!

13 more sleeps!!!! Until we take possession of our new place! Can you sense our excitement?? Huh...huh...can you...can you...??? This count-down is almost more painful than the count-down of safely passing into the second trimester of a pregnancy! Don't even go THERE!

Free, vintage (literally! They used to be my Mum's when she was a young girl) bunkbeds! My uncle has somehow kept these beds in his care unbeknownst to many in the family, and graciously passed them down to us! Originally my Mum's and aunt's, then her brothers shared them, then my uncle restored and painted them for his daughters, and now my daughters get to enjoy them! And enjoying them they are! No more cribs in this house...seriously!! Avery is loving this new set-up! A big girl bed and a room mate!! She's not passing this one up for her crib! And, thankfully, Karys is doing exceptionally well sharing what used to be her room. It seemlessly turned into "their" room, which always makes for an easier transition!

I know there's lots more that I'm thankful for, but at the moment all I can think of is bed, packing, road-trip...

Here's to long weekends and the return of some semblance of order...enjoy!
